Student Boycott of Israeli Institutions

The Granada appeals court has dismissed the appeal presented by the ACOM against the University of Granada for suspending collaboration with Israeli institutions.

The university adopted this measure in May 2024, together with the Red Universitaria por Palestina de Granada in protest against the genocide taking place in Gaza.

The appeals (Administrative Litigation) court’s findings state that the UGR’s measure was taken based on international pronouncements, including the statements of the UN Rapporteur, Francesca Albanese, who in April 2024 affirmed that, “The world is witnessing the first genocide shown in real time by its victims.”

The Asociación Acción y Comunicación sobre Oriente Medio (ACOM ) is “a Spanish organisation that promotes relations between Spain and Israel and fights anti-Semitism by working with governments, political parties and civil society;” or in other words, it’s an Israeli lobby.

The ACOM can take an appeal to a higher court; the regional Supreme Court (TSJA).

Editorial comment: Of course they will take it to a higher appeals court because they have the money. Even the Gazette felt the long arm of Israel when we published an article about an Israel side arm purchased by the Spanish Government for the Guardia Civil, who upon receiving them were far from happy with their quality. We received a cease and desist letter from law form hired by the Israeli company, ordering us, (and virtually every Spanish news outlet, including national press), to take the ‘offending’ articles down.

The ones the IDF killed or the ones that remain inHamas’s hands? Or do you mean the thousands of Palestinians rounded up and kept in Israeli jails, without charge and tortured? – Martin
