Tomorrow’s Ski Resort Strike Cancelled

The striking workers belonging to the company that runs the Sierra Nevada ski slopes, Cetursa Remontes, have cancelled the strike planned for tomorrow, Saturday.

They have also cancelled the strike planned from next Friday the 14th, but this does not mean that all the days lined up for strike action have been cancelled, as starting on the 22nd of March, strike action will renew.

The Junta de Andalucia (Cetursa is a semi-public company belonging to the Junta) offered to sit at the negotiating table after previously refusing to do so. This move by the Junta brought about the above-mentioned strike cancellations.

The planned strike, as mentioned in our previous article on this situation, consists of several all-day-strikes on Saturdays, as the weekends is when the ski resort makes the most money. Fridays are also targeted but only during the mornings (4-hour strikes).

Business owners in the ski resort (Pradollano) had asked the Junta to insist on minimum services on the strike days, because another day of strike would have “caused much damage.”
