Headless Corpse in Diving Suit

The Policía Nacional are looking into the discovery of a headless body yesterday on a Fuengirola beach.

The victim was wearing a neophrene suit, of the type used by divers and surfers. Furthermore, it could have been quite some time in the sea given its state of decomposition (saponification: fat in a corpse converts into adipocere  often called ‘grave wax’).

The emergency coordination centre, 112, received several calls from beachgoers beginning at 20.41h alerting the authorities to the presence of the body on the beach in front of the Paseo Marítimo Rey de España.

The centre informed the Policía Local to act as support for the Policía Nacional; i.e., cordon off the beach and keep the curious away. A coroner gave permission for the body to be removed and taken for an autopsy.

But that is not the only gruesome discovery on a beach yesterday because a body was found on Playa de La Calahonda (Motril) The 112 call centre received an alert at 17.20h to say that there was a body floating just off the beach (near the end of Calle Galán). The body was of a man in his 40s.
