A man dressed only in his underpants burst into the flat of an elderly woman, put on her clothes and cooked himself an evening meal before he was finally arrested.

This took place on Calle Parra Alta de Cartuja in the Barrio de San Ildefonso in Granada one Sunday evening. He had managed to get through the block entrance by ringing the bell of an elderly lady in a ground-floor flat, who decided to open it. 

He knocked on her door but she couldn’t see anybody through the peek hole. She opened the door a crack but he got his foot in the door and before she knew it, he was inside, sporting his Calvin Kleins and not a stitch of other clothing on him.

She decided that there were too many people in her flat and ran out in search of help, whilst he, in the meantime, locked the door. Now inside he put on her bathrobe and set about knocking up something hot to eat.

Well, the neighbours, who could see him through the window, phoned 112 at 21.40h and the Policía Local in force (three squad cars) were despatched to the address. They called to him through the front door of the flat asking him nicely to come out so that they wouldn’t have to damage the woman’s door.

However, seemingly oblivious (or not caring) he just sat down on the sofa and made himself comfortable.

The police then called upon the Fire Department to send a team to find alternative access to the flat, which they did, through a window facing the inner patio.

From there, in a short while, the man was arrested and taken to the police station belonging to the Policía Nacional for custody.

Prior to his dramatic entrance to the lady’s flat, the Policía Local had received several calls saying that there was a man out on the streets, clad only in his undies in the Carretera de Murcia area.

The very temporary squatter turned out to be a homeless man, suffering from an infectious respiratory illness (probably the flu). As for the woman, she received medical assistance for a minor case of shock, which is hardly surprising.

He appeared before a police court and has been released pending trial for a possible case of ‘forcing an entry.’ You can imagine that given his state of homelessness, he might have preferred to have been remanded in custody and treated for his chest infection.
