The Gualchos-Castell de Ferro Town Hall has carried out an improvement to the access to Playa La Rijana, one of the most popular beaches on the eastern end of the Costa Tropical.
This work was not only to make it easier for beachgoers to reach the beach, but also for official vehicles such as ambulances and refuse-collection lorries, etc.
A company that rents out kayaks and also delivery vehicles for the bar are also authorised.
Everybody else leaves their car up on the parking area at the side of the N-340.
The Town Hall used 55 cubic metres of concrete to pave the access because the original surface had potholes and was generally deteriorated.
The Mayor of Gualchos-Castell de Ferro, Toñi Antequera, turned up for a visit (photoshoot) to the ongoing work and said, “We know that La Rijana is a natural treasure and we want to continue to look after it, but it is also essential that people who visit it do so with greater safety. With this improvement, we have managed to make access more comfortable without affecting the environmental balance of the area.”
