Motril Town Hall has given the green light for a new camping facility within the municipality, next to Playa de Las Azucenas.

Within the 47,000-sq/m plot there will be a large area for overnight parking for camper vans, for example. It is to be developed in two stages: the first will include the actual camping areas and access to them, and the second, will include wooden cabins, sport facilities, a pool and a cafeteria/bar.

Mayor Luisa García Chamorro emphasised the importance of this project going ahead and that it will be “a breath of fresh air for the town as it will attract a large number of visitors, given how Motril is concentrating on quality-tourism structures and activities.”

She considers that Motril is immersed in a “golden stage of the development of its tourism,” referring also to the tourist flats that have received building licences on Avenida de Andalucía.

The northern end of the plot for the camping facilities will connect with the N-340 giving it good access.
