Paseo de Las Flores Fire

There was a small fire on the Paseo de Las Flores, which is just under the Castillo in Salobreña. Fortunately it caused little damage.

It seems that one of the large flood lights on the paseo which illuminate the castle walls suffered a shortcircuit.

Within half an hour of being reported, the fire had been put out by the Motril Fire Department, who were called out together with the Salobreña Policía Local.

The fire was reported at 23:15h on Sunday night by a local who lives near the paseo. The spotlight that caused the problem was the one behind the portable toilets. The glass on the front had been broken and the damp had got into the electrics and caused the short circuit.

Fortunately, the said spotlight or flood light was one that was on the paseo and not down below amongst vegetation, which would have created a larger fire.
