Back on November the 8th and 9th, the Asociación Árboles Contra el Cambio Climático, Plantando Semillas and Vallescout developed two activities to raise environmental awareness.
This first took place in the junior school, CEIP Joaquín Muñoz Ruiz in El Valle, where pupils heard about natural space and the need for their care.

The Chairwoman of trees against climate change, Lola Ortega, ended the encounter with a little field work involving the kids in sowing seed from native herbaceous plants and creating biodiversity islands to attract pollinators.
Secondly, volunteers from the three associations from villages in the Valley de Lecrin, as well as scouts and guides from Donostia, Madrid, Jaén and Granada, sowed holm-oaks seed, supplied by a village local, in the area that was affected by fire.
Also sown were other kinds of seeds such as wild-olive seeds, wild rose, black hawthorn, broom, carob trees and lavender. It is hoped that this kind of flora will help stabilise the soil on hillsides and barrancos.
