The inhabitants of Paiporta poured out their emotion in the form of anger during the King's visit, together with the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, and the Prime Minister of the Autonomous Region of Valencia (Generalitat) Carlos Mazón.
Around a hundred or more locals confronted these figures of authority, casting insults and the mud, expressing the generalised feeling that the authorities had let them down over warning of the approaching weather system and the follow-up response: Mazón failed to issue warnings until it was far too late and PM Sánchez didn’t sent the soldiers in soon enough.

Mounted Guardia Civil officers and some on foot put a cordon around the king and politicians as cries went up such as “Mazón, Resign!” and “Where’s Pedro Sánchez?” and “Sánchez, son of a bitch!”
The PM had taken shelter in the emergency command post after his group was attacked; PM Sánchez’s car had been attacked with sticks and stones, which is why he was hurried away by his escort.
King, Felipe VI, remained amongst the crowd to listen to their complaints and respond to them. “We’ve lost everything,” they told him, pleading for food and first-necessity items.
The Queen, Letizia, simply said, “How could they not feel the way they do, how could they not be so angry.”
