The Spanish Ministerio de Interior announced that for the first time, for an aspirant to become an officer in the Policía Nacional will have to have an A2 and B1 Cambridge-English profficiency.
This will come into effect next years (cadet intake 42)
The Director of Exams Andalucía in Granada, Ricardo Freires says that demanding that officers can speak English is a “great advance” and demonstrates that language is already necessaary for public-functionary posts.
He also consider that the fact that the Policía Nacional accepts Linguaskill as acceptable for aspirants is excellent news for all their English-preparation, language schools.
He also points out that Linguaskill is also recognised by Correos, Renfe and the Junta de Andalucía for entrance exams, as well as CRUE (Conferencia de Rectores de las Universidades Españolas).
Linguaskill is a Cambridge English exam that allows candidates to demonstrate their level of English in a record time, as the maximum duration of the online exam is two and a half hours covering Reading & Listening, Writing and Speaking. Cambridge English is considered the most prestigious certification institution in the world.
