Bear in mind that this article was written on the 16th of October, so there will have been many more fines between its writing and your reading it here.
The fines were issued in violation of the Ordenanza Municipal de Convivencia y Medio Ambiente, which imposes sanctions of between 300 and 1,500 euros, depending on the quantity and locations of illegal rubbish disposal.
The fines were issued over incidents in 14 different locations, many within the urban area of Motril, where the use of a drone belonging to the Policía Local was especially helpful.
Citizen collaboration, points out the the Councillor of the Área de Calidad Urbana y Seguridad Ciudadana, is especially important and that even when the campaign ends, help from citizens who witness illegal dumping reporting such acts are essential.
It’s also important that residents make use of the Punto Limpio for the disposal of household goods, such as furniture and white goods, for example. Those wishing to dispose of this type of rubbish should phone 958 609 397 from Monday to Friday, between 08.00h and 14.00h.
Such domestic items will be collected between 09.00h and 13.00h. There is no charge for using this service.
Lastly, the Policía Local wants it known that residents can report acts of illegal, rubbish disposal, anonymously via policialocal@motril.es.
