The galleon, Nao Victoria, will return to Motril Port on a visit lasting from the 24th to the 27th of this month.
This replica is of one of the ships that first circumnavigated the world between 1519 and 1522, firstly under the command of Fernando de Magallanes (after whom the straits are named) and then under Juan Sebastián Elcano after Magallanes’ death.

By the way, Spain has a tall-ship named in honour of Juan Sebastián Elcano, which is a cadet training ship and has visited Motril Port on several occasions.
Today’s Nao Victoria was built in the mid 1990s and has a length of 26 metres and a beam of eight metres, displacing 160 tonnes.
Whilst the galleon is tied up in Motril Port, visitors will have the opportunity to go aboard and learn about how the crew, 500 years ago, lived and worked.
From the 24th to the 27th, the general public can visit the craft from 10.00h to 20.00h, reserving their tickets on the ship’s own webpage Nao Victoria.
