On the day of their Patron Saint the Guardia Civil in Salobreña presented an award to SOS Animales Salobreña in recognition of their dedication and collaboration.
Also present were the Commanding Officers of both the Motril and Granada posts at the award giving, which included other recipients.

SOS Animales Salobreña has been in existence since 2019 and collaborates closely with Seprona, which is the environmental department of the Guardia Civil.
The animal refuge organisation takes in the victims of animal cruelty brought in to them by the police, caring for them both for their medical and food & accommodation needs until the legal case has passed through the judicial system and a sentence handed down. Many times this can take years but once it comes through, they can put the animals up for adoption.

Gema Palma Llopart runs SOS Animales Salobreña (pictured above) and said that she was very grateful for this recognition, which consists of a small statue and a diploma, as well as a bouquet of flowers.
The most important prize, said Gema, is the affection shown by the whole corps of the Guardia Civil towards SOS Animales Salobreña.
The animal rights organisation also received recognition from the Atarfe Town Hall, and in both cases she dedicated these awards to her late partner, Gersom Muñoz, who died on the 5th of July in a traffic accident.
