Speed-Cam Fines

One in every three of the speed-camera fines in the province are issued where the Ronda Sur autovia/Granada bypass (GR-30) splits for the PTS Hospital

When the traffic in front of you starts breaking gently, it’s a pretty good indication that there is a well known, static, speed camera up ahead, yet there are those that are oblivious to these little give-aways and end up paying between 100 and 600 euros for speeding.

When we say in the case of one particular speed cam, “There are those,” we’re talking about 7,400 drivers during the course of last year.

In fact, the greedy little speed cams brought in nearly a tidy two-million euros within the province of Granada. This is because the total number of fines issued in the province was more that 22,000. This figure, believe it or not, shows a drop on the previous year.

There are 47 static and mobile, speed cameras in the province, three of which (static) are on the GR-30; i.e., the Circunvalación de Granada. The one that nails most people, is on the Circunvalación de Granada where the turn off for the PTS hospital and Sierra Nevada is. This blighter has nicked 25,000 drivers during 2021, 2022 and 2023 and each year, it is at the top of the most ‘successful’ speed cams list.

Another little breadwinner is the one in Torrenueva costa, on the road leaving the town in direction of Carchuna. Up to the end of July it had taken a snap shot of 1,200 drivers breaking the speed limit. Bear in mind, that this figures do not include August when that town has the most summer visitors.
