A 70-year-old, woman driver had to be rescued when her car turned over on the MA-3112 between Vélez-Málaga and Almáchar.

The accident occured around 11.00h on Thursday near kilometre-point nine. For reasons that are still unclear, the car, a Fiat, left the road on a bend.

The fire service, Vélez-Málaga Policía Local, the Guardia Civil, the Protección Civil from Moclinejo and an ambulance were deployed.

After the fire personnel managed to get her out of the car, which was on its side, and the paramedics had attended to her injuries (which were not serious) they took her by ambulance to the A&E Department of the Centro de Salud in Almáchar for a full check up.

Editorial comment: age is a funny thing, so much so that I have to think twice before using “elderly.” After all, the woman is only three years older than me...
