People who live along Calle Francisco Maldonado in Torrenueva Costa are not happy with one particular neighbour, whose behaviour is not very conventional.
Since December, residents of Bloque C consider that they have been living a nightmare, so one flat owner has decided to become the Spokesman for the group; or better said, he was chosen to act as such.
The person that is causing the problems appears to have suffered a psychotic episode, which can be described as the following:
It is condition of the mind leaving the person with difficultly distinguishing between what is real and not (Mr Trump comes to mind). It can manifest itself in delusions, hallucinations and incoherent speech (Yep, that sounds like Trump).
But leaving aside a possible case the other side of the Atlantic, this neighbour has destroyed the interior of the flat, ripping off the wall tiles and riping out the bathroom fixtures.
Although just over 40 people take up summer residency in the said block, during the rest of the year there are only 10 flats occuppied, most by retired couples… and the person who is putting everybody on edge.
According to some, the man is an ex-offender; i.e., he came out of prison about eight months ago and moved into what was his mother’s flat. From there, it has gone downhill. The flat apparently has no electricity nor water supply and the man, according to some, is permanently drunk. In the winter he has allegedly lit fires on the floor, burning old clothes to keep warm.
The neighbours say that they have reported the situation to the police and to the Town Hall, but their response, according to the Spokesperson, “has not been very helpful.” The Town Hall says that they are working on it, having elaborated reports that have been presented before the lawcourts.
Mayor Plácido Lara says that until a judge authorises intervention, their hands are tied.
Editorial comment: Whoever he is, he needs help. We don’t know how much time he did but the fact is that he is having difficulty adjusting to being out. It could be that the neighbours did not exactly offer a welcome party from the start when they found out that he was an ex-con. What I am trying to say is that we have only heard one side of the story.

Reader’s Comment: “Excuse me, but as a journalist, your personal opinion about Mr Trump is irrelevant. If you mention the former president of the USA, you may as well mention Kamala Harris’ very strange attitude?” – laurent Katz
Martin: Yes, well this is the Seaside Gazette, which has on its front page of the paper edition (since 1993) A Satirical Toast to Life on The Coast. We tilt more towards Private Eye than Fox News. 🙂
Reader’s comment: “Martin, I wonder if Laurent is an American. As an American living in Salobreña for several years now, I have every right to call Trump a walking psychotic episode. He is a buffoon and totally unfit to be president of the United States. Kamala Harris is a breath of fresh air and a wholesome, educated, accomplished woman. She and Tim Walz are the future of America. She will try to heal our division whereas Trump wants to rule, and ruin, the world.” – Lynne Sawyer
