Two swimmers had to be rescued from the water in a reservoir in Lucena (Córdoba).

The incident took place in the Embalse de Malsapillo around 16:00h on the 17th. Fortunately for the two women, an eyewitness saw that they were in trouble, being drawn towards the dam-wall sluices.

One was hanging on to a tree and the other was clinging to brambles. The area has difficult access and they couldn’t clamber out.

The Policía Local, the Guardia Civil, the local fire service and an ambulance were despatched to the scene.

Once rescued from the water, they were treated at the scene for minor injuries caused during their struggle to stay away from the danger.
