Do you recognise that Spanish expression in the title? Sinpa means to walk out without paying (Sin Pagar) or as the British say, do a runner.
Well, this is the case of six people who tried to get out of paying a restaurant bill over 12,300 euros; no more and no less.
An Ibizan Restaurant
According to the Policía Nacional, they arrested the said individuals on Thursday this week, amongst them a 77-year-old, British man. The others were five women aged between 24 and 39, two of whom were Argentineans, one was Greek and the other two were Polish.
The incident took place in a restaurant in Ibiza the day before, where they filled their boots with food and alcohol to the tune of over 12,000 euros. That’s just over 2,000 euros per person! What the hell were they eating, unicorn steaks?
The staff, seeing that the group had no intention of paying the bill when they received it, phoned the Policía Nacional. The police learnt that there was a seventh person who had left moments before the bill arrived and was the person who actually made the reservation and had invited the other six.
The police weren’t impressed with excuses offered by the satiated, half dozen, and arrested them.
