The Guardia Civil arrested a man in his early 20s in La Herradura after he was caught transporting laughing-gas canisters in his car.
The arrest of the 21-year-old man took place on the 24th in the middle of the San Juan Fiestas, which is a period when the Guardia Civil mount extra controls because of the amount of illegal drugs being brought down for sale on the beaches on the night of San Juan.

Two police patrols had set up a control point at the entrance to La Herradura for this reason. This was when they stopped the car coming out of the village for a routine check on the occupants and storage (boot/glove compartment, etc).
What caught their attention was the number of balloons littered around the inside of the car, so they ID’ed the driver and searched the car. The balloons are used for transporting the nitrious oxide from the canisters to customers.
During the search they found four canisters of this gas. The driver also had 875 euros in cash from the sale of the gas.
The arrested man and the confiscated items were taken to the Almuñécar Guardia post to book him for drug trafficking.
