Now that the traffic is building up between Granada and the coast we will soon see traffic cones turning autovia double lanes into three.
It won’t be every day during the summer but on weekends and bank holidays, especially during the fortnightly turn over.

As you can see from the diagram, traffic will be affected between the two junctions, the Padul/Cabra exit (142) and the Acebuches/Ízbor one (158) where traffic heading down will have to choose between a single lane down on the A-44 or opting for the N-323.
Traffic coming up will have one lane leading over the centre reservation onto the southbound lanes in a single-lane traffic flow. On this stretch of shared use the maximum speed will be 80 kph.
The changes will begin this Sunday the 30th between 17.00h and 23.00h on the said days. However, the DGT will be monitoring the system and will make changes if deemed necessary; i.e., tweaking it.
The DGT asks driver to be sensible and obey traffic diversion signs and try not to play skittles with the cones.
Editorial comment: of course the bottleneck where the A-44 joins the N-340, especially for those attempting to get onto the coastal road in the direction of Salobreña, will still exist and cause mayhem.
