The hill fire that broke out within the municipality of Lanjarón during the evening of the 18th was declared as "extinguished" in the early morning of the 19th.
The fire that was located in the area known as the Barranco Juan Bueno required 40 firefighters, five aircraft (two helicopters, three airplanes, one of which was a command spotter) and one fire truck.

It took Infoca roughly twelve hours to contain and then put out the fire, mostly during the hours of darkness.
The leading hypothesis is that it was deliberate and the act of a pyromaniac. In fact Lanjarón Town Hall has called upon its residents to collaborate in finding out who it was because there had been three small fires since Monday this week: the first on Monday in the Parque del Salado, the next on Tuesday in the same park and the third, as reported above, in the Barranco de Juan Bueno.
