Renting an apartment has become very expensive on the Costa Tropical and now Motril has overtaken Almuñécar, thanks to Playa Granada.
For instance, you’re looking at 1,500 euros a week in high season on Playa Granada, and around the same over in Salobreña (Salomar). In Castell de Ferro its 900 euros for a beachfront flat on Playa Cambriles.

In fact, Motril is the seventh most expensive town on the Andalusian coastline, with the usual suspect, such as Puerto Banus for example, taking the top slot.
Whichever way you look at it, prices on Motril’s Playa Granada for summer rentals has climbed a lot. To give you an idea, four years ago a 90 sq/m flat would cost 700 euros a week, compared with the 1,500 euros of today.
Playa de Poniente is a little cheaper at around 1,350 euros, which is 850 euros dearer than in 2020 and 100 more than just last summer.
Even Torrenueva Costa where in 2020 it was 350 a week in summer it’s gone up by 142% and stands at around 850 euros for an 80 sq/m flat.
Almuñécar used to rule supreme but not now. A flat in Velilla will cost you 1,216, which is 166 euros more than last year, San Cristobal has summer rents of 900 euros per week. La Herradura a week’s rent for a flat in summer is around 920 euro.
What if you’re looking for the cheapest destinations on the Andalusia coast? The city of Almeria and Rincón de La Victoria come in at 750 euros per week and 730 euros, respectively.
