El XVIII Air Show de Motril drew the crowds just like previous years, despite military aircraft backing out of the event as it coincided with the European Elections.
Such military aircraft such as the CASA C-295, and the HA-28 Tigre attack helicopter belonging to the Spanish Army, as well as the aircraft from Turkey and Morocco, were not allowed either to participate or could not participate because all Spanish military air bases were closed.
Despite this, the 12 different, civilian aircraft that did participate, including a Maritime Rescue helicopter, made up for the military-aircraft absence, by providing a spectacular show held in front of Playa Granada.
Ainhoa Sánchez, the Spanish wing walker (the only one in the country) provided a breathtaking show, posing on the top wing of a bi-plane as it swept low, right in front of the crowds. (See Picture)
