Softy Firemen & A Kitten

Both the Motril fire service and the Policía Local were called out to rescue a kitten at the bottom of a vertical-sided Rambla.

God knows how the kitten had managed to get down into the Rambla de Las Brujas but whatever the case, there it was mewing its heart out Tuesday afternoon.

In fact we do know how it got there: a young female stopped a Policía Local patrol to say that there was a kitten trapped at the bottom of this concrete storm channel where it had fallen. She had been walking and a car was fast approaching so she tried to shoo it out of the way of the vehicle; it worked, but not as planned.

The Policía Local contacted the fire service who arrived with a ladder and climbed down to the bottom to tackle the ferocious beast and at great risk to life and limb, retrieved the kitten and took it to the municipal municipal animal-rescue centre, not before stroking it and cooing a little… mannishly, of course,
