Only Access Road Reopened

We ran an article back in March about an outskirts area of the city of Granada that lost its road access and feared a lengthy wait but it has been done much quicker than expected.

GRA CM Camino de BeasYes, the City Hall reopened the damaged road (Camino de Beas) for the passage of buses and heavy vehicles yesterday. This road gives access to the upper area of Sacromonte.

Most of the road had slipped down an embankment after heavy rains on the 9th of March. What remained of the road was just enough for a small car to squeeze past, if you were feeling reckless.

The Councillor for Urbanismo, Enrique Catalina, explained that it was originally calculated that the task would take four months based on a technical report, but instead, it has taken half that time despite the mammoth task of building a new retaining wall and the relaying of the road itself.
