A fire broke out in a room on a roof terrace of a house today at midday in Calle Derrumbadero in Almuñécar.
The fire service was on scene within 10 minutes of the outbreak and managed to get their equipment close to the scene, despite there being no vehicular access to this narrow street, by entering Calle Angel Gámez and running hoses and equipment up the steps onto Calle Derrumbadero.
The fire was quickly extinguished and all the occupants of the property managed to get out along with several pets. One man appeared holding only his guitar from amongst all his possessions – obviously a dedicated musician.
The cause of the fire is, as yet, unknown, but there was talk on the street of there being some sort of butano issue. However one of the occupants said that is was very probably an electrical fault. There was no explosion, according to witnesses on the street.
The fire service, Policia Local and the Guardia Civil were all inattendance and remain at scene taking details and damping down.
