Nobody Wants Immigrants

The Spanish right-wing parties, Partido Popular de Armilla and far-right Vox in five different municipalities, reject an immigrant centre being placed on an air base.

GRA Base Aerea de ArmillaThe air base in question is the Base Aérea de Armilla and the local, opposition party, Partido Popular. is demanding the Prime Minister does not go ahead with the plan to install a temporary holding centre for immigrants within the base.

The PP has begun a campaign to gather signatures against the immigrant centre. Their Spokesperson, Antonio Manuel Membrilla, said, “We watch this, astonished,” because he claims that the Central Government lacked all transparency in this decision.

He suggests that the Central Government reconsiders their decision as, in his opinion, “It is not the best solution for immigrants nor locals.”

Vox, on the other hand, has joined this rejection in five neighbouring municipalities where they have representation: Armilla, Alhendín, Ogíjares, Las Gabias and Churriana de la Vega, all of which are close to the base.

Vox’s reasoning is, “Pedro Sánchez and his cabinet have been allies and promotors for all these globalist policies and multi-culturalism, which Spaniards have to suffer directly in its cities and barrios, increasing a lack of safety on the streets, creating job insecurity and the entry of cultures that are incompatible with our own.”
