Cleaning Boats Needed

The Salobreña opposition party, Partido Popular wants to put forward a motion for debate on the hiring of cleaning skiffs for the summer.

ALM Surface Cleaning SkiffsThe PP say that each year the municipality’s beaches are prepared for the summer period from the 15th of June to the 15th of September and that for this reason beaches should be ready by the 15th of June.

Every coastal municipality, they argue, has to present a Plan de Playas beforehand in order to conform with the Ley 2/2013-29-mayo, which is the document that concerns temporary beach installations during the high season.

“However, when we compare ourselves with neighbouring municipalities, we see that Salobreña lacks some of the basic services for its beaches, relegating us to a second level, which is the case where surface-cleaning, motorised skiffs are concerned,” said the PP Spokesperson, Rafael Bosch, adding that both Almuñécar and Motril have them.

Therefore, and for the above reasons, the PP will put forward this motion at the next Ordinary Plenary Meeting of the Town Council.

An unfortunate turn of phrase, “Motions.”

If planning laws had been adhered to and not so many cowboy installations of sewerage outlets, both legal and illegal, in the areas between Motril and Almunecar, then perhaps the skiffs or scoopers wouldn’t be needed.

You can never really deal with those who dump litter, plastics and rubbish on the beach and in the sea. They pass laws, but there’s no real punishments.

This high season, I read somewhere, was starting in March for nine months, or is that only in the crowded Málaga area?
