A light aircraft made an emergency landing on Salobreña beach earlier this afternoon.
Some reports claim that the pilot was Finnish others Bulgarian but regardless of the pilot’s nationality, he is skilled enough to make such a landing.
The aeroplane had taken off from Jaén and was on a training flight with two trainee pilots and the instructor on board.
Apparently a warning light came on indicating a possible engine failure so they put down on the nearest safe stop – Salobreña beach
This occurred around 13.45h, according to Salobreña’s Policía Local and there were some people on the beach.
The Guardia Civil also turned out to find out what the aeroplane was doing there and to check his paperwork.
The owner of the aircraft sent a lorry with a crane to get the aircraft ready for being taken by road, once the wings had been removed.
I seem to recall that this has happened before a few years back, but I couldn’t remember when. Now I have found the article from February 2011

Mike: yes, the report issued by the Local Police, which is where we got the information, was wrong.
The aircraft is a Diamond DA40 and is registered in Finland (OH-xxx). If it were registered in Bulgaria it would have LZ-xxx
Dear oh dear Martin.
How did the local police get the report so wrong and why?
Robert: Very good!
Would that be a Beechcraft by any chance?
