During Saturday the 18th in Motril the Policía Local received a call to say that several rubbish hoppers were on fire.
The bins were in the Los Alamos area of the town, so the police informed the municipal fire service and raced round to where the burning rubbish hoppers were.
The municipal police were helped out by the Policía Nacional to locate the culprit (s) but in the meantime somebody had set light to rubbish hoppers on Calle Santísimo, but thankfully citizen collaboration helped them out again.
Then more hoppers went up on a nearby street to Calle Santísimo, as well as on Calle Ancha but by this time the net had closed in on a suspect.
They arrested a 66-year-old resident and took him down to the police station to be held in custody until he could be brought before a magistrate.
