Some drivers travelling on the A-44 up to Granada yesterday or returning saw a column of smoke behind a hillside and phoned it in.
The fire, which was located within the rural areas of the municipality of Padul, had been lit by infoca fire personnel deliberately to burn off accumulating ‘combustable vegetation’ in order to prevent a hill fire in the near future.
The term for this action is Quema Prescrita and it was applied to the area known as Cerro de Abajo and El Manar.
Infoca published a photo and explanation on their twitter account to set people’s minds at rest.

All well and good. A breakfire. But what happens during the siesta time. Fires don’t stop for tea.
