Hospital Beds Shortage

The Health-Worker Union (CCOO) has complained that 16 beds in Hospital Santa Ana are not used owing to staff shortages.

According to the CCOO, work began on a new Gynocoogical Department on the 1st of October. However, they say, in order that gynocoogical patients were not dispersed around the hospital, 16 beds in the Medicina Interna department were used and those 16 beds for M.I were shifted up to the fifth floor.

However, unless the hospital receives specialists in this field, the department is dead in the water.

They go on to say that a similar situation prevails in the Resonancia Magnética unit, which is also not  being used because they lack the specialised staff.

This has been brought on, they say, because the extra staff that were hired to tackle Covid overload have not had their contracts renewed and have been let go, leaving the hospital understaffed and those doctors and nurses who are left are exhausted after the strain of the Covid period.
