Consumer Info Office Reopens

The Consumer Information Point in Salobreña's Town Hall building will resume its activities, thanks to an accord with the Provincial Council.

Now, don’t expect it to be open every weekday morning because it will only be open from 16.30h to 19.30h on the fourth Wednesday of every month. So the next time it is open is on the 22nd of this month, and if you miss that, the 20th of December.

The Councillor in charge of the department is Antonio Rodríguez, who explained that in order to be accessible to the town’s residents, it was decided to open in the afternoons, rather than in the morning, along with the rest of the Town Hall offices.

It is, in effect, a Citizens Advice Bureau where people can “exercise their legitimate consumer rights.” Councillor Rodríguez said that the department also exists to encourage companies to “adhere to the Consumer Arbitration System” in order to guarantee a quick resolution of disputes.

Apart from mediating in disputes between consumers and companies, it also provides information literature on consumer matters such as insurance, the banking sector, telecommunications and housing, etc, as well as holding talks on consumer matters.
