The Policía Local and fire service in Motril were able to rescue between them three people from a flat fire, that broke out near the Plaza de España.
The alert came at 08.00h yesterday morning to report a fire in a building on Calle Romero Civantos – a passerby had spotted smoke coming out of a window.
The first at the scene were the municipal police who made their way up to the flat and entered, finding thick smoke coming out of the kitchen, obscuring all visibility, but they set about tackling the fire with their issue fire extinguishers.
The fire service soon arrived to complete the task of putting the fire out and ventilating the building of smoke.
The officers evacuated three people from the flat, two of whom were of advanced age. All three were treated for smoke inhalation and were taken to the nearest Centro de Salud. One of them also had burns on their hands.
