Salobreña & SICTED

About twenty tourism businesses sent representative to an information meeting on SICTED (Comprehensive Tourism Quality System in Destinations).

Basically, it’s a certificate that you can obtain for your business, if you meet the necessary  requirements.

This is a project aimed at improving the quality of tourist destinations, set up by the Secretary of State for Tourism (SETUR), with the backing of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).

Councillor for Tourism, Mari Carmen Rodríguez Callejón, says that it’s all about improving the competitiveness of those businesses participating.

SICTED offers 37 good-practice manuals, one for each profession. It also offers the participating tourist services a training plan, technical-assistance visits by approved advisors, collective workshops and work groups, all of which will culminate in obtaining the certificate for Tourism Quality Commitment.

Councillor Callejón said that the Town Council would finance part of the project for the first eight companies that decide to join the SICTED.

Editorial comment: sorry, but it sound just another way of getting money out of local business for certificates that will do little more than hang on the wall.
