Salobreña Warehouse Fire

Around 14.00h this afternoon, smoke billowing out of a warehouse had left curious passersby wondering what was causing it all.

SAL Warehouse Fire 22AG23The fire, which was along Avenida de Peronne in a trading-estate area, not only affected the roof and facade of the said structure but it also burnt out two vehicles.

The Motril fire service had been called in to put it out, which was achieved about an hour later, around 15.00h. Nobody had been hurt.

The two vehicles destroyed belonged to the municipal cleaning department, as this warehouse is where they are kept. Unfortunately, two of the vehicles in there at the time were precisely the two that the Mayor had presented as newly acquired vehicles.

The Councillor for Citizen Safety, Antonio Rodríguez Molina, said earlier that they were waiting for the fumes and heat to disperse so that they could enter to find out exactly what had been lost to the fire. He also said that this situation would probably affect street-cleaning tasks over the coming days.
