Women football teams have come a long way, especially in Spain when during Franco’s time and the early years of returned Democracy it was looked down upon in the latter case, and forbidden in the former.
The English Women’s team also deserves plenty of praise for getting so far in the FIFA Women’s World Cup and for showing the male, English, national selection how it’s done.
Many things will change, we can hope, here in Spain, so that such sportswomen can receive more recognition and more backing, not only from the authorities and sponsors, but from the menfolk, who do not appear to have celebrated this victory with as much glee as they did when Spain won the World Cup in 2010.

It feels like 1066 all over again.
England get beaten by a better European side!
Well done to all, quite a ride.
