Cheaper Medication

The Ministry of Public Health has revised the cost of medication and published a new pricing list, which contains many reductions.

SPN Paracetamol Gelocatil 500The said ministry published the list on their website indicating the original price and the new one, starting this month. Amongst the medications included are two widely used ones; Paracetamol, Nolotil and Ibuprofen.

A box of 40 paracetamol tablets now costs 1.31 euros whilst a box of 20 is only 86 scents. In the case of Nolotil, the new price is 2.26 euros. Two others, Diazepam and Amoxicilina, are now both cheaper.

Prices are governed by the Ley 29/2006 de 26 de julio that brought in to guarantee the “rational use of medication and health products,” which is why medication is generally cheaper here than in the UK, for instance and especially the USA.

    Paul: No, the prices have nothing to do with availability; i.e., whether they’re over the counter or prescribed.

    otherwise very good news.
    One question is Amoxicilina available without prescription?
