Writing this article Sunday evening, there is little news around that is not about the General Elections, so here goes...
An 85-year-old man fainted outside a voting centre (colegio electoral) in the centre of Motril, shortly after having voted.
The man, who has heart problems, was rushed to Hospital Santa Ana where he remains under observation but whose condition is developing favourable.
The voting centre concerned is the one setup in Rambla de Capuchinos, within the public library.
Meanwhile over in Santa Marta de Tormes (Salamanca), the chairwoman turned up with gastroenteritis and asked to be excused. Her substitute turned up at 08.00h but with symptoms being drunk because the town has its fiestas in full swing since the night before.
In Málaga a voter turned up wearing flippers and a snorkel, as well as a swimsuit and a Hawaiian shirt. He asked before whether he could turn up to deliver his vote dressed this way and was told that as long as his attire was not offensive or bearing hate slogans, there would be no problem.
Finally, the Mayor of Tortosa (Tarragona), Jordi Jordan, voted wearing a period costume from the Renaissance, as the elections coincided with the Festa del Renaixement in the town.
So there you have it! In the end 100% of the 60,314 voting centres were prepared to receive the votes of the 37.5 million people elegible to vote in Spain who had not already done so by mail votes.
