Customers received a fright when the plaster ceiling of a cafeteria on Balcón de Europa fell down yesterday afternoon.
The result was two people with slight injuries, such as cuts and bruises.
The incident took place around 16.20h when at least one of the inside tables was occupied. Large pieces of plaster fell upon one young, adult-female customer.
The Policía Local, who have their offices virtually next door, by the Town Hall, soon arrived, who informed medical services. However, those with slight injuries made their own way to the town’s medical centre.
In the meantime the establishment was closed to the public until repairs can be carried out.
Another incident that took place in Nerja, but during last Friday, involved two women being knocked over as they were making their way over a pedestrian crossing in the Plaza de la Ermita de Nerja, which is in the centre of town. The crossing is next to a bakery.
Both women are tourists and received First Aid at the scene of the accident as their injuries were not serious. Even so, they were taken to the Hospital de la Axarquía for a more thorough check-up and X-rays to check for hairline fractures.
The driver remained at the scene of the accident and provided assistance for the victims.
