La Herradura resident and athlete, Una Stancev, obtained a Gold in the Spanish Athletics Championships after clearing a high-jump bar at 1.81 metres.
Una, who is a member of the Club Trops Cueva de Nerja, obtained this record in her first attempt at beating her own record at the competition, beating Jennifer Rodríguez, who also managed to clear this height, but only on her third attempt. Jennifer consequently took the Silver.
Una Stancev, had previously been proclaimed Spanish Champion in Antequera in March 2021, when she cleared 1.79 metres in the high-jump competition. In second place came Basque competitor, Julene Bouzo Agirregomezkorta (1.74 metres.) and in third place, Aina Rabadan Coll (1.71 metres) from Barcelona.
For such a small village, La Herradura has some top-class athletes on a national level.
