The residents of Velilla in Almuñécar, specifically those that live or use the Cuesta/Camino de Velilla, are far from happy over an uncontrolled waste dump.
Amongst the people who are dumping their rubbish there is the Town Hall itself, it appears, with organic waste from the Municipal Vivero, as well as from the public parks and gardens.
Sadly, when some see the Town Hall dumping its waste, then others take their cue and dump household appliances like TVs and washing machines, amongst other domestic waste.
Consequently the Spokeswoman for opposition party, PSOE, Rocío Palacios, has reported this state of affairs and considers its existence as a “great act of irresponisibility” on the party of the Mayor, Juan Jose Ruiz Joya.
“A few days ago we visited these installations and were met by this disagreable surprise,” she said, adding that the Town Hall had accumulated hundreds of kilos of park & garden cuttings/pruning, building waste, old furniture and even a fridge.
She concluded by asking why the municipal cabinet has created this waste tip when it hires a company to collect urban waste and dispose of it.

POWER TO THE PEOPLE

Why? Because it’s Spanish Practices. Lazy entrenched authorities, who will take and spend money from anywhere. It’s a throwback to past times, where power was and still is corruptible.
Prime example: those that hide in Arabia. It starts at the top and trickles down to mayors; those that hand out work to mates. It’s the same as the UK. I mean; a future King getting plastic bags of money!
