New Roadsign Children Crossing

This is the last of the series of new roadsigns that come in this year and perhaps the most surprising.

SPN New Roadsigns Children CrossingDrivers, from memory, would see no difference between the old ‘caution – children’ sign and the present one because the only difference is that it is the girl leading the boy.

Whether tens of thousands of euros need to be spent on manufacturing and erecting this new roadsign, not forgetting the money spent on taking down the old ones and scrapping them, is a question best left for debate.

Hopefully, as the money has already been spent, 50% should only be replaced, achieving ‘parity.’ Many,  many readers probably never noticed who was leading whom on these signs so the question is, can it be that important?

Perhaps readers would like to comment?

Malcome: Argh! Don’t get me started on pedestrians using crossings whilst on a mobile phone grrrrr.

  4. Martin says:

Fred: Besides the girl might identify herself as a boy, and the boy as a girl, so that would make it sexist.

  5. Martin says:

Pete: the observation is welcome, the sign is a waste of taxpayer’s money.

  6. Pete Saunders says:

Achieving is misspelled, the sign is okay.

  7. Fred Davies says:

The old sign was clear enough so a waste of money…. perhaps it was sexual equality driven but if so the the girl and boy or indeed LGBT+ should be alongside eachother!

Now this is one I’ve definitely seen before, maybe not in Spain, but can’t be certain. I do know that there is a European stock of many standard images, so doubt they cost much apart from erecting signs. The one thing I’d love to see are pedestrian crossing lights and zigzag lines – so many dress in dark colours and launch themselves on the crossings without looking – usually on their mobiles!

Ha ha. What’s the point. !! People of all ages just walk straight onto the street or crossing. While chatting or on the mobile. No pause. to see if they will get hit by a car. Just , up yours I’m the pedestrian. Not even a life saving glance. !!
I do really feel that care should go both ways. Mind you zebra crossing parking is awful here. I cannot see why they don’t have zig zag safety areas. Vehicles park right up to the crossing. Very odd. !!

but is it a girl or a boy with long hair wearing baggy shorts? You are being very hairstylist. How dare you suggest that boys cannot have long hair and a pony tail in this day and age!
Totally agree, complete waste of taxpayers money.
