Well, it better damn well be a Happy New Year because we weren't impressed with the old one!
As you will read in the paper edition, this month marks the 20th anniversary of my joining the Seaside Gazette, as Editor, before becoming the Publisher when Georg Hvizdalek died.
The first Gazette that Georg and I sent off to the press was the January 2003 edition. I had worked as a contributor, under the name of Mylo, since 1998, but that January 2003 Gazette was a whole new ball game.
Had Dave Darby not stepped in that fateful February 2008 when Georg died, the Gazette would have probably have died along with Georg, but Dave and I go back a long way; since we worked together for the same American oil company in London in 1980, in fact.
We muddled through so that with one heart attack requiring five stents on Dave’s part, and the loss of my wife on mine, behind us, we are able to still bring out a Seaside Gazette each month.
Thank you all for your readership loyalty and we also thank our advertisers, some of whom have been with us before even I arrived – the Gazette goes back to 1993.
So, let’s hope that 2023 is a year to celebrate and may your hangovers last much less than your New Year’s Resolutions.

Fantastic news outlet for those of us who are new and getting acquainted. So sorry to know about the loss of your wife and hope your partner in crime is doing much better post stents. All the best for 2023.
Happy New Year.
Your edition is the first thing I read in the mornings.
Continue the good work.
Bravo for all your efforts in 2022…. alas 2023 could be equally challenging out there
