The German guitarist, Laura Lootens, won First Prize in this year's Classical Guitar Competition, Andrés Segovía, which was held in La Herradura' Centro Cívico.
The two runner ups, were Ausías Parejo (España) and Fan Shilong (China), taking the Second and third Grize, respectively. They performed the Concierto del Sur para guitarra y orquesta (composed by Manuel María Ponce) accompanied by the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga, conducted by Salvador Vázquez.
The First Prize consists of a cash prize of 10,000 euros and a special-edition, concert guitar, Maestro made by the La Herradura luthier, Stephen Hill. But there’s more as she will enjoy a masterclass at the Instituto Cervantes de Múnich with the collaboration of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, as well as a performance next year, sponsored by the Fundación Guitarras Alhambra worth 1,000 euros next year.
At the end of the competition, the Mayor presented the official poster for the 2023 competition, which is charcoal etching of Andrés Segovia from when he was young.

The Third Prize, won by Fan Shilong from China, consisted of a 2,000-euro cash prize and a performance at the Festival Internacional de Guitarra in Madrid Next year.
