A Busy Night

Last Friday was a busy day for dealing with drink drivers in the city of Granada, as they had to deal with four within 24 hours.

GRA Drink Driving Accident NV22The first incident was when a 52-year-old driver smacked into a traffic light and metal bollard on the Circunvalación de la Encina. He was breathalysed and found to have 1.13mg/l; high enough to be considered a criminal offense.

Then, at 01.30h there was another road accident but this time on the Europa Roundabout. The 49-year-old driver collided with a barrier fence. The Guardia Civil went to the scene of the accident and breathalyse him. He gave a reading of 0.82 mg/l, which was less than the other driver but still a criminal offense.

Then at 04.30h there was an accident on Calle Joven Marcelo; a 30-year-old female driver, this time, had collided with a line of parked cars but decided to accelerate away. However she was soon tracked down and breathalysed, giving a reading of 0.79 mg/l, which even though lower than the other two, she was still three times over the limit.

Finally, the Policía Local intercepted a motorbike rider showing evident signs of being drunk. The rider refused to take a breathalyser test, so he was charged with refusing to take a test and drink driving.

Amazingly, nobody was injured that evening or latter in the early morning.
