A British woman was found in her home in Benalmádena with 20 stab wounds allegedly inflicted by her elderly husband also of the same nationality.

The 69-year-old wife had already reported her 80-year-old husband earlier in the year for domestic violence but she had reportedly dropped the accusation later on. The police have also had to go to their residence on two occasions over domestic disturbances.

It appears that the man has psychological problems and cognitive deterioration due to suffering from Alzheimer’s.

In this latest incident, she had phoned 112 at 22.30h on Friday the 4th asking for help. She said that she was being attacked by her husband. According to 112 sources, the line went dead after she explained that she had already received four knife wounds.

When the police arrived at their house on Avenida Antonio Machado, they attempted to smash the door down, which was no easy task as it was a reinforced one. In the end, fire personnel had to enter through a window. They found the victim lying on the lounge floor, near the front door.

Unfortunately, there was nothing that they or the ambulance crew could do for her. A quick examination of the body uncovered 20 knife wounds, many of which were to the neck, apparently inflicted with a kitchen knife.

They then located the husband, who was lying on his bed. They handcuffed him and took him to the lounge where the body lay to interrogate him on what had happened. It was apparent from his responses that he was confused and unable to give coherent replies.
