With an Indian summer in full swing, it must be difficult for the ski station to come up with a date to start the skiing season, but that is what they must do.
Traditionally, October is the month for getting all the installations (buildings & equipment) ready for the arrival of the snow, so some time in November the public company that runs the ski resort, Centursa, will make a final decision.
However, as things stand, they are aiming for the last weekend of November (Friday the 25th) to begin the skiing season.
Just as soon as the lower temperatures arrive then they can fire up the snow cannons. Last year they added another 77 snow cannons, 63 of which are static and the rest mobile. This brings the total up to 210 snow cannons.
