There has been an arrest made by the Guardia Civil in Almuñécar in connection with the arson attack on a cold-snack, vending machine and ATM.
The Guardia Civil arrested a 40-year-old, Moroccan individual, charged with causing deliberate damage to private property in the Plaza de la Constitución (Town Hall Square) property. The police believe that the suspect wanted to get at the takings within the machine, but failed.
The resulting fire not only damaged the vending machine but also affected the ATM and the front of the building and the electric cabling running across the facade, provoking a black out in the building.
The Guardia Civil managed to find footage on a nearby CCTV and were able to positively identify the (alleged) culprit; a known ‘bad egg’ with previous arrests for causing damage to private property.
Editorial comment: It matters not whether the suspect, if found guilty, is Moroccan, European or from anywhere else other than Spain; if they are repeatedly arrested, why are they not expelled from the country?

It was a cry for help. Not crimes. Poor chap.
