The PM for the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, signed a Decree marking an official day of mourning for the passing of Queen Elizabeth, as a mark of respect for her.
During the day of mourning, which started at noon today and finishes at noon tomorrow, all Flags of Andalucía mounted in official public buildings will be flown at half mast, “inviting other administrations and institutions, be they public or private, to do the same”.
The Decreto del Presidente 14/2022, de 9 de septiembre, was published in the Official Regional Gazette (BOJA) this morning.
He said that Queen Elizabeth was “an example of personal dedication, a sense of duty and service to citizens of the United Kingdom,” adding that “she had been an exceptional witness and had played a key roll in seven decades of European and World History.”
Editorial comment: it is a pity that whilst people across the globe, including from republics, pay respect to this singular woman, some British citizens have taken the opportunity to openly rejoice at her passing. Sadly, the British probably didn’t deserve the lonely monarch who served them.
